Position Overview:

• Direct and manage vascular ultrasound imaging program in 3 locations: Union Square NYC, Green Point Brooklyn and 373 Park Avenue South
• Proficient in performing arterial and venous vascular ultrasound exams head-to-toe imaging
• Provide interventional cardiologists with ultrasound guidance during thermal and non-thermal vein ablation procedures
• Provide duplex ultrasound vessel access and guidance during peripheral deep venous and arterial interventions in the Cath lab
• Teach and provide cardiology fellows with hands-on vascular ultrasound scanning during their imaging rotations
• Provide weekly cardiology fellow didactic vascular ultrasound imaging lectures, case studies and board review for the ARDMS Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation examination (RPVI)
• Manage vascular staff sonographers
• Initiated, lead and maintained vascular laboratory accreditations
• Organize and participate in vein screening events
• Partner with department leadership and assist in marketing and new business development
• Review patient’s medical record prior to each vascular study to help identify their pertinent history, signs and symptoms of disease
• Generate preliminary reports for physician final interpretation and appropriate codes for billing
• Create vein map diagrams that illustrates the pathway of reflux disease
• Actively involved in ongoing research (investigator – sub-investigator)

Vascular ultrasound testing clinical proficiencies include                                 

• Perform deep and superficial venous duplex mapping exams in the reverse Trendelenburg and standing positions to determine patency, obstruction & reflux   
• Perform iliocaval duplex to identify acute DVT, fibrosis, occlusion, compression by the overlying artery, recanalization and extrinsic mass compression
• Perform full pelvic venous disorders exams for renal vein compression, ovarian vein reflux, pelvic varices
• Perform venous stent surveillance studies
• Perform pre and post procedure endovenous ablation duplex studies
• Perform visceral arterial duplex studies to evaluate the aorta-iliac for AAA and EVAR, renal and mesenteric arteries for stenosis and fibromuscular dysplasia,
• Carotid duplex evaluation for plaque characterization, stenosis, occlusion, post stenting & endarterectomy follow up, other carotid pathologies and disorders
• Lower extremity arterial duplex mapping for the claudication and chronic limb ischemia      
• Lower extremity arterial duplex post atherectomy, angioplasty, stenting and bypass graft surveillance
• Non-imaging PVR and ABI arterial exams with and without exercise 
• Upper extremity arterial and venous duplex studies
• Transcranial duplex imaging

Overview: responsibilities included performing cardiac and vascular ultrasound studies, managing a department that consisted of eight staff cardiovascular sonographers and maintaining IAC echo and vascular laboratory accreditations, organizing and running vein screening events, and assisting in marketing and new business development, cardiology fellow’s vascular ultrasound rotations.
